Our Sevices Explained

DEVELOPMENT & PROCESS

The world of business will constantly evolve, so will our services — but in a good way!

CROWNPEAK CMS

CrownPeak enables you to build and manage cross-channel experiences from a single platform with built-in quality assurance. Everything you need to deliver high-quality, contextual experiences across hundreds of touchpoints anywhere in the world.

This is how CrownPeak describes their service, but in our experience, CrownPeak offers a secure and stable platform for rapid web deployment and management. So how can we help you?

BOOTIT is the ONLY company that has built and integrated e-Copmmerce natively into the CrownPeak platform. Using the Shopify engine, we were able to develop our own .NET wrappers that allow the management and deployment of Shopify product information within the CrownPeak projects and templates.

How does this work?

Using new or existing templates, we would create a Shopfy account and configure the products/services to your requirements. From there we would integrate the custom API using wrappers developed by BOOTIT to create a handshake with the Shopify engine, From here all the products and services can be included within the HTML output from CrownPeak.

What is the advantage of this?
  1. YOU own the order and customer details. These can be stored like any other form in the WCO.
  2. The customer does not have any indication that they have left your site, because they have not. All interactions are done within the CrownPeak application.
  3. You lean on the existing CrownPeak security and infrastructure.
  4. You have full control of the customer experience.
Is this all BOOTIT offers?

Not at all. Yes, we can offer full e-commerce but we can also create and manage web sites and projects within CrownPeak that do not require an e-commerce solution. Our dedicated .NET engineers know the in’s and out’s of this amazing platform and will have your visions up and running in no time.

CUSTOM WEB DEVELOPMENT

But we already have a website, why do we need BOOTIT to help us?

Whether you have an existing website or are embarking on your first venture into the online world, BOOTIT is here to ensure that you have the presence and representation required for online success.

Web design is the practice of creating presentations of content that are delivered to an end-user through the World Wide Web, using a Web browser or other Web-enabled software. The intent of web design is to create a collection of electronic documents and applications that reside on a Web server/servers. The website may include text, images, sounds and other content, and may be interactive.

It all sounds very clinical doesn’t it?

Let’s humanize this a little. At BOOTIT we understand how important your customer facing impression is. Would you hire a receptionist for your company, the first person anyone sees, without even an interview? Many web sites are often developed without really taking time to think about how this site will represent the company. Not just from a content point of view but the whole experience.

Our development team working closely with our designers can produce web content for all platforms, in all the popular formats. Whether you need a small straight HTML web site or media rich flash dynamic solution with database and social media connectivity, our team can deliver your vision.

Let’s say you have the correct content and the site works quite well, now what?

To optimize the site for search engines is more important now that it has ever been. With 27%* of all web hits originating from a search engine, having your content optimized to your web site and web experience is imperative.

In today’s economy why take a chance? Having the best product or service in the world does no longer guarantee success. We are all creatures of habit and in business it is often the same. Many businesses find an online service or product and stick with it because it is comfortable and there is a level of trust. Don’t fall to a lesser product because your web site did not convey the correct message or was not included in a search engine.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)

This is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the natural or un-paid (organic or algorithmic) search results. In plain English, making sure the content on your web site is presented and formatted in a way that it scores higher on Google than your competitors.

We say Google, but it does in fact cover a vast array of search engine services. There are literally tens of thousands of search engine services but as everyone is familiar with the Google website, so we often refer to that.

If you are interested, Google currently has 82% of the market.

Search engines have been in existence since 1993 but it really wasn’t until AltaVista was released in 1995 did anyone really pay too much attention to website design for search result placement. Up until that point there simply was not the same competition online as we see today. With the introduction of Google in 1998, all that started to change.

In the early days, simply having a list of hidden words on your page was enough to boost your score and put you to the top of the search results. The search engines today are no longer as gullible. They look for grammar and relationships between the title, Meta information and page content then score accordingly.

In a nutshell, you need to design your pages and content very well if you want to score highly using the traditional methods.

At BOOTIT we have technical writers and authors who work on web content every day. Squeezing every point out of the traditional (non-paid) approach to ensure your site is placed as highly as possible. We can also offer a service where these scores are monitored allow you to make adjustments to the content helping to maintain your overall score.

Are there any other approaches you can take?

Other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) target paid listings. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.

DATABASE SOLUTIONS
Why do I need a database? I only have a web site.

Over 75% of the websites today have content in some form or another that is pulled from a database. Databases offer an efficient and rapid deployment of content and assets within a controlled and secure environment.

The #1 database used on the Internet today is MySQL. This is an opens source application that works with a myriad of platforms.

Let’s compare updating a site with and without a database.

Without:
  1. Ensure you have a person with the technical abilities to alter your HTML pages and content (This limits the people who could perform the changes)
  2. The actual web site files must be available and the latest versions to avoid inaccurate information on the web site (Physical access to the files is required)
  3. Assuming the person responsible for the change requests has all the necessary programs installed, the changes are made (This limits the changes to a specific computer)
  4. The files that have been adjusted must be uploaded to the web site then verified (Access to the server is required)
With (using a CMS):
  1. Anyone with access can login from any computer using any internet browser
  2. The page requiring the change is located from a simple menu
  3. The change is made on the web page, no software is required
  4. The change is submitted and is now live

This is a simplified analogy but you can see how the use of a database makes such a difference even on this simple task.

How else can a database help?

By automating many of your daily tasks you not only free up time to work in a more production environment but also remove the human element from mundane tasks eliminating those errors. So what database services can we offer you?

  • Data Warehousing
  • Data Integration
  • Analysis & Statistics
  • Data Mining
  • Internal Process Streamlining
  • Automation of Tasks
  • Client Information and Marketing

Here is an example of process automation and web deployment using a MySQL database.

We worked on a project aimed at a financial information provider and helped to reduce the overall production time by almost 90% saving 20 days out of the month.

By introducing a database solution we automated the collection and parsing of data from weeks to minutes. Building from this, a new web site application was developed that produced high-resolution PDF pages reducing the desktop publishing time from 2 weeks to less than 1 hour.

Through this process we were able to help identify then launch new products that were a direct result of the solutions we provided.

MOBILE MEDIA
Reaching masses in an evergrowing market.

As phones get bigger and tablets get smaller are we looking at one single device?

Many websites offer a basic mobile version or even just display the regular site on the phone or tablet. This works well when viewing on a 12” screen but it cumbersome and difficult when viewed through phone.

It is all in the approach. At BOOTIT we get it. We understand the requirements from a mobile web site but more importantly, we realize the limitations faced when designing to such a small screen.

Two Clicks. That’s all it should take you to find the information you are looking for when using a mobile web site. Nobody has time to scroll through pages packed with tiny links or text that is so small it becomes frustrating to the point that a game of patience becomes your focus for the remainder of your commute.

Going mobile comes with a responsibility; let BOOTIT help you with your mobile web site needs. We will analyze your current web site and content. Design a web “application” that will serve your clients and deliver information in an efficient way.

Whether it is through mobile sites, applications or the recent trend of 2D bar codes and image recognition, media brands are taking note and evolving with the ever-changing world of mobile. Many of today’s publications have integrated mobile in some way as they look for alternative avenues in which information and advertising can be delivered.

Going mobile provides the business with the opportunity to deliver what the client wants, when the clients want it and how the client wants it.

Never before has business had the chance the market with such precision and relevance.

So how big is this industry anyway?

The mobile industry is a trillion dollar economy, with over 5 billion mobile consumers worldwide. Don’t sit still while this goes on around you. Let BOOTIT help you stake your claim in the new gold rush.

SOCIAL MEDIA & NETWORKING
The word in the street just got louder.

Ahh, the buzz word but how does this phenomenon translate to business?

It would be easy to throw in a bunch of stats here and the sheer potential is awe inspiring, but we won’t. Don’t worry, we will post them for you to see but first we need to share a few thoughts regarding social networking.

Embarking on this social journey requires discipline and responsibility. It is true that a well-crafted social networking campaign can lead to unlimited potential but it can also lead you down the rabbit hole.

Recently a large game manufacturer decided after months of pressure to relent and create a Facebook page. The idea was to create a live forum from which the designers and employees of the company could interact and share new and exciting game updates with the public. In theory this worked well. In practice the Facebook page quickly became a breeding ground for complaints, bugs, disgruntled users demanding help and feedback. With such an overwhelming response, it is not surprising that the reply’s and comments from the employees and developers quickly dried up. Not being able to keep up with these responses only fueled the animosity further. At this time the company had two courses of action, to simply close down the page and admit that the whole exercise had failed or to “fess up” and acknowledge the comments and complaints and work with their customers to ensure the next release met with far more acceptance.

This is just one example of how a social networking campaign can get out of hand. Have a clear idea of what it is you want to achieve and have the resources to maintain it.

At BOOTIT we have grown with Social Networking. Building specialized content for Facebook for over 5 years, we have seen it all. We were among the first to develop fully dynamic content for specialized Facebook pages having developed our own iFrame applets. We have created seamless integration of Twitter, Blogger and Facebook content into new and existing sites. We understand social media because we are social media. Let us help you strategize your social networking campaign, help you organize resources either internally or within our own team, help you get connected.

It truly is an exciting time, with rewards abundant. Together we can tap into the social market. Who knows where it will take you.
